About ECO

This new church is part of the ECO denomination (eco-pres.org), whose mission is “to build flourishing churches that make disciples of Jesus Christ.” So to be a disciple and make disciples of Jesus Christ is at ECO’s core. ECO was founded in 2012 as an offshoot of the Presbyterian Church, USA. Theologically, ECO is evangelical (centered in Jesus Christ and strongly valuing the authority of the Bible) and Reformed (based in John Calvin’s teachings on God’s sovereignty). You can read more about ECO’s statement of faith and core values which can be summarized using the three words biblical, missional and relational.

ECO is based around serving local congregations and currently has 380 congregations across the country. Missio is part of the ECO Presbytery of Southern California, and several churches in this presbytery are financially supporting Missio.

Some distinctive traits of ECO include a commitment to church planting, a priority on leadership development, and an affirmation of women in leadership.
