Unassimilable

What is the role of ethnoburbs, PWI-WAA (predominantly white institutions with a lot of Asians), and ethnic churches for Asian Americans? How might we think about affirmative action and ethnic studies programs? How might the refusal to assimilate help form a more robust Asian American political identity? Join us this May (AAPI Heritage Month) as we discuss these questions through reading Bianca Mabute-Louie's memoir, Unassimilable, set in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV). We’ll meet for four Sundays in May, from 12:30pm-2:30pm.
